My Dental Implant Treatment at Absolute Dental - Part 2

My new dental implant was placed 4 months ago to replace a missing lower molar. This allowed enough time for the area to heal sufficiently, so it was time to have a crown fitted on it, this is the exciting bit!

I attended a short appointment with Rhodri John to have impressions taken of my lower and upper teeth; this is a completely painless procedure, no need for local anaesthetic injection.  This involves placing a gooey material over the teeth which sets very quickly and gives a very accurate imprint of the teeth. Also a shade was taken to ensure that the new implant crown would match my natural tooth colour.
Once the impressions are taken, they are sent to Kingsbridge Dental Laboratory where highly skilled dental technicians work their magic to manufacture the implant crown.

After 3 weeks, the big day had come and my new crown could be fitted: this again is a very straight forward procedure. Rhodri John placed the crown on the implant, making sure that it felt comfortable and not in the way of my bite. Depending on the position and design of the implant, the crown is either cemented on or simply screwed into the implant.
I am so pleased to have been able to replace a tooth that I missed so much and it looks so natural too. Having this implant placed restored my ability to chew and bite evenly, I could not recommend it enough.

Since the beginning of my career at Absolute Dental , I have seen many implants placed and so many very happy patients. Most of all I have seen many smiles being restored.

An implant is a great option to replace a missing tooth, the alternatives often being either a bridge or a removable denture which are for many a less desirable option.
If you are thinking about implant treatment or would like more information, please contact the Absolute Team who will be more than happy to help and can offer consultations with Rhodri John and Bill Beare.
